Am I bowing to societal conventions?

I've done something drastic. Possibly it was driven by swinging hormones (hooray for the retreat of PCOS, but boo the return of hell week). In any case, I have signed up for ... eHarmony.

I can think of 101 reasons why it was a silly/bad/immature/desperate mistake, but I figured: "Meh, what have I got to lose [besides a one-month subscription fee of £34.95?]?" So I did it. I signed up, answered the tedious questionnaire, wrote my profile and posted some pictures. Got a few matches that sparked my interest. We'll see how it goes.

Sometimes I just get a bit tired of house - pub - house. Figured maybe house - pub - roundtrip to Rochdale or Berwick - house might ease the boredom.

And also I'm lonely. I can admit that, I think. (Not that the housemate isn't wonderful, for she is and I love her to itty-bitty-sneezy pieces! We are an old married couple in practically every way possible!)

I'll shut up now.

Would be interested to see how you find it, in their ads they always seem so confident in themselves (if that makes sense?) so am nosy to see if they live up to their promises. I think someone on my flist works for them actually...

I'll report back in a month when my time is up (I won't be renewing - too expensive!). So far it's okay. The guy I most liked who was near to me closed the match. The guy I next liked most lives in Rochdale, which is a bit of a trek. Guys that are in the region aren't pinging as hard, but it's early days so - perhaps!

I feel like I know those guys from somewhere. Who are they?

I haven't used that site, but I have used Match (it's okay but I like the matching bit on sites like eHarmony and Match Affinity), Match Affinity (lots of money, definitely not enough people on there for me!) and Zoosk (free, lots of weirdos lol). Am currently using OkCupid which is free and does a decent job of providing matchy things without you having to fill out loads - the questions are optional. I like it. Obviously the weirdos are out because it's free but the calibre of non weirdos seems high which is nice. *hugs* hope it goes well. If you meet up with someone, let El know where and when you are, and meet in a public place *nods*

It's a relief to know I'm not the only one using dating sites. It's such a weird paranoia, I realise, because I'm talking to people on the dating site, ergo they are using a dating site. Still. You comfort me.

I considered Match, but their questionnaire was a bit lackadaisical (and also, badly coded) so eHarmony was the better choice. I might give OkCupid a go if eHarmony doesn't work for me.

I know the rules about meeting people off the internet, silly! I met you, didn't I? LOL! ;)
