First day of school!
Feb. 8th, 2011 08:32 pmI managed to set up a placement at a school in Newton Aycliffe to get work experience before my PGCE course starts in September. And today was my first day!
Enjoyed it thoroughly! I even enjoyed waking up at 6am. I spent the day shadowing the one-to-one English tutor (as my CRB check for the schoo isn't through yet). It was really great to observe an experienced teacher dealing with different student with different attitudes and abilities. And it's amazing to see the wealth of resources available to English teachers from the government. I saw activity/lesson plans, which I've never seen before, and I helped the staff with PowerPoint presentations, and I even did some coaching of some of the kids.
Conclusion: yay! Tired now.
