Yesterday, instead of going into the field with everyone, I was invited to the 'preman' meeting, where Bossman explained to us entry-level grunts how the company works and what it is possible to achieve with a little bit of hard graft. I have come to several conclusion.
1) This is just a job. It's awkward to go door-to-door, but people only have to say 'no'. That's the worst that can happen.
2) I'm not interested in climbing the ladder and owning my own company, which is the goal of most of the people there I think.
3) I need the money in the short term, so I'll keep looking for a job that has a guarantee on wage.
4) But I think with an attitude adjustment, a bit of practice, and some luck, I might be able to make it work for me.
Last night, the girls and I went into Durham for a boogie and had a brilliant time. We came home far too early IMO - I could've danced for at least another couple hours - but it was nice to go for a drink, have a dance, and not work or sit on my ass. ^_^
