End of 2010 meme

Shamelessly pilferred from [livejournal.com profile] loneraven.

01. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Tried a Hurricane cocktail in New Orleans (and it is to DIE for, omnomnom!).

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for this year?

Apparently I didn't make any last year (or at least none that I cared enough to record for posterity) so I can say with 100% honesty that I kept all my resolutions. ^______________^

I have a few resolutions for 2011 (clear overdraft/run 5k/lose a stone). I'm fairly sure I can accomplish them.

03. Did someone close to you give birth?

OMG who didn't? Just in the last month a friend from school gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. One of the guys at the pub also has a new baby girl. Another friend and a different guy from work are due in January. Baby-boom!

04. Did anyone close to you die?

Not this year. Not that I know of. My Gran died Xmas Day 2009, RIP.

05. What countries did you visit?

The USA again. Went on an epic tour of Arizona/Utah with Trek America which was just about the most awesome thing ever. Also finally went to New Orleans! Amazing city.

06. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

Disposable income.

07. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

16/08/10 (I think) - the day I first saw the Grand Canyon.

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?

Acing my interview at Durham for the PGCE. The course is a bit oversubscribed yet I got my place on the spot!

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?

Putting on the 10lbs I'd lost at camp by Xmas.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I got bit by a squirrel and had to have a tetanus shot.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

A seat on the Trek America bus.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My sister springs to mind. Despite the pressure of expectation, she faced up to the realities of her situation and took the brave step to change it. I'm so proud of her.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Just before Xmas, a customer at the pub overheard my discussion with another customer about my daytime temp job (I moonlight as a barmaid). Whilst I was pulling a pint for the former customer, he informed me that because I was a temp worker I contributed nothing to the economy or society and I was a waste of space and should die.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent. Paying off loans and overdrafts. Travelling to America. Rent.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

America!

17. Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder? Indifferent?
ii. richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Paying off my debts. I know they always say that debts aren't what you regret, missed opportunities are, but I think I could take advantage of more opportunities if I had less debt!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Eating unhealthy food.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

Alone.

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?

Nope.

23. How many one-night stands?

1. (For my own pride, I'm going to say that a 3-night stand counts).

24. What was your favourite TV programme?

Glee.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope.

26. What was the best book you read?

I didn't read anything this year. How bad is that?

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Legally Blonde: The Musical. It gets stuck in your head.

28. What did you want and get?

Work (in a recession).

29. What did you want and not get?

Prince Charming (or closest match).

30. Favourite film of this year?

Despicable Me.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I was 24, and I worked a 16-hour shift at two jobs.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Winning the lottery.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

Clothing. On the body.

34. What kept you sane?

As ever, my mother, and planning my future world-travels.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ewan McGregor.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

California's gay marriage laws.

37. Who do you miss?

My mum.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

New people at the pub who are always good for a laugh.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

Sometimes there just isn't enough me to do everything well (or at all).

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

And the world’s got me dizzy again / You think after 22 years I’d be used to the spin / And it only feels worse when I stay in one place / So I’m always pacing around or walking away - Landlocked Blues by Bright Eyes
