New Year, New Me - Week 5

Have lost 12lbs in 5 weeks, so am obviously quite chuffed. Not very many slip-ups on the way either, which is very encouraging. Haven't had a bite of chocolate or a packet of crisps in weeks. I find I don't even miss crap food.

Running today was ... strenuous. It was Week 4 Day 1, which involves 5 minutes of running at the very start. I've been wearing heavy work shoes all weekend, on my feet at the pub for 7+ hours on Saturday and Sunday. I could definitely feel the strain of it in my muscles this morning. I'm confident I can run a full 4 minutes on the flat by the end of week. Then I'll just repeat the week again and hey presto, I'll be doing 5 minutes up the hill no problem!

Some people shouldn't have animals. There's a family in Brandon who own a field and about 15 horses where I run. The horses are half-wild, never brushed, living off grass. Not abused, or even really neglected. But today I had to herd one back into the field, then block a hole with wire and bits of string. I mean, Jesus, if that pony had spooked and run into traffic ... It doesn't bear thinking about.

Watching The King's Speech again. Such a fantastic movie. It deserves every award for which it's eligible.

Wooo! Just shy of a stone, congrats! It's probably the best test, meeting someone you haven't seen in a while. I can't wait until I'm 3 stone lighter and go to visit my dad in the summer. Hehehe!

OMG I couldn't do situps and squats. Are you mad? I would just about die. Running is quite fun. It's supposed to be a 9 week program but I'm going to have to extend it because running for 5 minutes straight is hard!

I feel kind of bad for counting the pounds so religiously. It seems very anti-feminist. But then I have to remember that I'm doing this for my health, not to fit with a patriarchal definition of 'beautiful/normal'. Life hard.

Woo! Just over now, am so chuffed. :D

Haha, yeah, doing that will be awesome - I've not told my Dad and his wife I'm dieting (though my sister might have), so will be super interested in their reaction!

It's not that hard actually, as it's all reps anyway. I just can't run at all, so I feel the same way about a c25K program!

I don't think of it as anti-feminist, but I do know what you mean about doing it so religiously. I'm definitely doing it for health, but I'm also looking forward to being thinner! Not for boys though, just for me :D
